Tuyet’s dish – Banh Khot

 

Tuyet cooked the below delicious dishes on  May, 21, 2015.

Appetizer : Banh Khọt, Vietnamese shrimp pancake. It is served with Nuoc Cham dipping sauce.
Main dish: Chinese Roast duck with Purple steamed rice
Dessert : Scone with hot tea.

Chinese roast duck was bought from 99 Ranch Market.

Banh Duong – “Worm” Cookie

Banh Duong is sugar cookie with “worm” shape from south Vietnam. The cookie is hard to make because it has to be light and crunchy, but it has to have the worm shape. Use baking power, the cookie is crunchy, but the shape is distorted. Without baking power, the worm shape is nice but the cookie is too hard. Tuyet’s Banh Duong is always perfect in texture and shape.

Stuffed Bitter Melon Soup

“Canh Kho Qua Don Thit”, Stuffed Bitter Melon Soup is healthy, light, aroma, and delicious soup.  The bitter melons stuffed with pork sausage is cooked in home-made chicken broth.  This is Tuyet’s signature dish and guest favorite dish.  The cooked bitter melon is light crunchy, a little bitter and combine with flavor pork sausage, so so good. Every spoon of soup is light savory, tasty, and  delicious.

Teochew Steamed Chicken

The Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner, or Reuion dinner is very large with many Vietnamese and Chinese dishes.

Tuyet, my sister made “Ga Tiem”, Teochew steamed stuffed chicken, our family traditional dish, and has been in our family for generations.  This dish is very light and savory, and served with fried rice. At the reunion dinner, she served it with “Happy saffron rice.”
